Halloween is my favorite holiday. In 2022 I had the energy and overall motivation to create a “spook garage”:

The shelves were full of bottles that we stuffed with weird stuff and slapped some fun labels on them. Much of it was from decorations I’ve collected over the years, but the plasma ball was a new addition. I used clear fishing line to hang the candles from the ceiling (à la the Hogwarts great dining room) and they worked great!
The following year, my power went out on game night and I grabbed those same LED candles from their package and reloaded with the same batteries I’d used in the garage display. They worked great as a way to give us some light for dinner and gaming that evening:

Fortunately, it was on a night where I had already printed out the map and we were all using paper and pen for our character sheets! All the tech these days for gaming can be cool, but times like this the old ways prove to be the best!
